Welcome to my World of Education on the World Wide Web... my e-Portfolio!
A personal view of education...
Education is meant to better a person, to add information and knowledge to their life, and most important to help one become something in life by using the information that they have obtained through learning. My philosophy of education is based on teaching through morals, values, experience, and learning styles.
Everyone deserves to get an education, but yet many people lack morals and values. Personally, I think education should teach morals and values along with the basic curriculum. The more experience a person has the better they may become. As a hopeful student entering the teaching profession, I think that the teaching curriculum should deal with reality and should be made interesting and fun. Many can relate to subjects that deal with everyday life as well as the subjects that appeal to them. Subject matter that deals with everyday life helps with choices that are often made.
As I have gained experiences through observations and through classes, I have found that the most important thing in education is to try and teach through many different learning styles. So many children, today, are falling behind, not because they lack the intelligence, but because they cannot learn through the one way that their teacher teaches. I have found that using a variety of learning styles, kinesthetic, tactile, auditory, visual, etc., has helped most students to relate to the lesson and the understanding of the lesson. I believe that teachers need to take into consideration that not all students learn the same way or at the same rate. Teacher need to adhere to the needs of the students and base their teaching style on the needs of their students. I strongly believe in accommodating my students because I am not teaching or in education for myself, I am here for the students. I want to make a difference in them and add something to their schema that they did not already know.
