Welcome to my world of Education on the World Wide Web...my e-Portfolio

A personal view of education...

My philosophy on education is actually simple. I truly believe that all children have the innate desire to learn. I believe that all children, regardless of whatever limitations they may have, want to and are able to learn. I know that for many children poverty, chaotic homes, and some form of disability can all be impediments to success in school. I think that most teachers want their students to be successful and work towards that goal.

I feel that incentives need to be put in place to encourage some of the experienced teachers to remain in challenging settings. I also feel that more help, such as a strong mentoring program, needs to be put in place for beginning teachers and aides need to be hired to assist the teachers with the volumes of paper work.

My reasons for entering teaching are simply that I feel I have something to offer. I have the age and experience to see the realities of schools today. I have no desire to try to "change the system," but I have and will continue to make every attempt to learn what I need to know to work effectively with a given population. I attend seminars and workshops to help me understand the kids that I work with. I’m not waiting for widespread reform in the education system or for smaller classes or larger budgets. I intend to learn what I need to help students be successful in whatever environment I am working. My goal in education is simply do all that I can do to help students to achieve all the success that they can.
